I had the SRT8 wheels on my Challenger black chrome plated by California Chrome Plating. Cost is roughly $900, including shipping both ways, and it takes about two weeks to do the work. Here's a before and after picture.

I liked the blacked out sinister look, but a flat black wheel seemed too much. The black chrome is mean looking, but still has some bling to it. Here is a current picture, with the windows tinted as well.

What was your reason to choose the black chrome over any other type of procedure, as in powder coating or painting ?

I did not want plain black powder coat because I think it looks too "Jeep like" for a classy car. I had a nice set of aftermarket chrome wheels on the car, but didn't like the way it looked because it was too blingy, and it didn't have the mean sinister look I was after. I saw pictures of the black chrome, and that was the look I was after, so I sent the stock wheels down to California Chrome to have them done. I think it turned out quite well.

The black chrome gives your car the perfect look. Just a bit sinister while keeping the SRT8 look.
