Street Edge claims the converter is guaranteed to increase HP & Torque to the wheels. I've posted the details below; is anyone familiar with this and is it a DIY or are some real tools required? I suspect it gets installed in the power train but not sure...

A TORQUE CONVERTER (http://builderstransmission.com/images/torque%20converter%20cutaway.jpg) is a kind of fluid clutch and torque magnifier for the automatic transmission. If I were installing a modified, I would have a professional do the work as I am not a mechanic at all! You can read more about how they operate here:

ya Jeff you have to remove the engine or the transmission to install a new torque converter, and probably would have to add a shift kit to the tranny as a converter by itself in a used tranny can spell disaster when you stand on it.

So more of a mod to do POST warranty coverage... it does sound like something I wanna do just not yet. The Pred is fun so far... now I need to figure out how to obtain/do some custom tunes to squeeze as much as I can out of what I've got. Thanks there Steve-o.

I normally work on diesel trucks, and almost always do we install a higher stall torque converter, billet flex plate, and billet input/output shafts, and generally we do a tranny upgrade to better clutch plates. The same would apply to the car trannies for upgrades if you're running higher horses and torque
