Got myself a '69 Plymouth GTX that is in pretty good shape. The previous owner did SOME good things to it, but left alot of things either undone or did a sloppy job of them. That being said, it's running the 440 Super Commando engine (11.0-1 compression, Purple cam, Headers, flowmasters, 750 Holley, updated to electronic ignition, updated to a later model alternator w/ sealed voltage regulator and the engine was rebuilt as well. He added an aluminum double core radiator w/ a 16" electric fan as well as a flex fan on the engine, a Zoom clutch. Somebody swapped out the Dana 60 rear for an 8 3/4 Sure Grip w/3.55 gears. He also put Magnum 500 reproduction wheel (8" front and 10" rear) and Yokohama tires. Said he put it a new gas tank, but he didn't check the gas gauge sender and it don't work! Car looks Great from a bit away. Up close, you can see that he had no body work skills. I'm no body man myself, but I think I can clear up a big part of those issues. Just gonna have to take some time, as I also have the '07 Charger R/T that I'm working to make it have MY look AND it will take time on BOTH projects.
Well, I WOULD post pictures, but I'm having a problem getting them here from Flickr.

I have to tell ya, taking this car out on the highway, is a real blast BACK into the PAST! I LOVE to ease up to a redlight, with the car in 1st gear and the engine idling along. That engine has a definite lope to it and it is SO funny to see people's reaction, when they hear and see it. :) One day, up in Fort Smith Arkansas (12 miles north of where I live), I was coming up to one of those stoplights and there was a Silver '69 GTO sitting there, that I pulled my '69 GTX up beside. We looked at each others cars and complimented each other. Then, the light turned green and we pulled off nicely. NOW, back in the day, when the light turned GREEN, The Race would have been ON! I don't know whether we were trying to be more mature about it OR if we both were afraid of getting nailed for Street Racing! Everytime I take it out, I get looks and compliments, some with their own stories of when THEY had one OR there was one guy who complimented me on the car and proceeded to tell ME that he had a 442 back in the day and could outrun everything around EXCEPT for a Plymouth GTX like mine. He didn't show any hard feelings, just stated the fact.

Man, nothing sounds as sweet as a big block Mopar! I hope you can manage some pictures soon. I would love to see it, and your Charger!

Thanks Charlie, I've got them posted over on the GPMM and Charger Z, but haven't got it down here yet. I'll try again this afternoon sometime. Got some things to go take care.
Thanks for the interest, Bill

Your right about that big block sound..I have a 70 GTX with the 440 and I know there are some awesome street cams out there but I run a 509 purple shaft and it does sound intimidating. They still work great as the car runs 12s in street trim.
