I have discovered that a quart of transmission fluid for the CVT also known as CVTF+4 is $37 after searching the web I found that Amalie Oil has a Universal Synthetic Transmission fluid that covers CVT's......I bought 12 quarts for $61 and they ship it to you....Jim in Miami

Can you actually do the trans fluid change yourself? I was told, back when I had my Compass, that any tranny service on those vehicles had to be done by the dealer, so I never attempted it.

I had to replace the tranny fluid because the transmission had to be replaced... yeah it wasn't Dodge it was some critter, rat or something, that chewed thru a half a dozen control wires located under a plastic panel between the front left wheel and the transmission and killed the transmission....The dealers don't replace any of the parts in the transmission they replace the whole unit. Oh by the way I doubled checked the price of the dealer tranny fluid and it's $27 not $37 like I said above....I checked with customer complaints about CVT transmissions and there were very few, there were complaints about the unique may they shift, they don't, hence the" continuous variable" name in CVT. The dealer doesn't want you to mess with the fluid because any screw up and it's $4500 to replace it. This is why there is no dip stick.
